I had to read my last entry on this blog just to be sure i'm not repeating my self (or worse) Sorry for the sudden disappearing but the NYC trip and all the other "making an album BS" kind of threw my off the "tracks" so to say...

    So what happened in NYC?

Ditlev and i had a freakin' fuckin fantastic trip to NYC! 5 days with nothing but all the cold beer we could drink (turned out to be quite a bit!) and tender steaks...oh and let's not

forget, 10 hours of mastering with George Marino.

I know i'm supposed to say this...THE ALBUM SOUNDS AMAZING! and i know that i'm also supposed to say BUT IT DOES! but hey, it really does sound amazing, but hopefully you'll hear it for your self when it hit's Denmark the 23 of August. We are more than happy with the result, proud is a word that comes to mind :)

What about live gigs during the last couple of months ?

Well we only had 2, but damn those where great gigs... First off we played the one day rock festival called Copenhagen Live alongside names such as Ramnstein, Volbeat, Slash and Skunk Anansie (loved playing in front of 20.000+) and then we played Nemoland and the famous Christinia... 2 great gigs!

So what's up with SR now

Well i'm writing this blog late saturday night, tomorrow morning i'm leaving Copenhagen for 7 days of vacation (pool & cold beers)but pretty soon we begin rehearsing for our gigs at Kalundborg Rockerand Skanderborg Festival on the 6th and 8th of

You never know exactly how many songs that will end up on the final album but we're recorded and mixed 13...The last 7 work days has been some long days but really good days. I think it's about time to praise Flemming and his mixing skills. First off it's important to tell you that he's not just chosen because he did 3 albums with Metallica and all the other super stars he's worked with over the years..

I've worked with Flemming on several projects during the last 4-5 years and he is, by far, my favorite engineer when it comes to recording and mixing REAL instruments...(drums, guitars etc...) Nobody i know can shape drums like him, we got songs that's almost metal, and one that should have been on a Creedence album about 30 years ago... Oh well, you'll hear it for your self when the album is released :)

It may not be very rock n' roll, but the last 6 months has gone exactly like we planed way back before christmas... Every member of SR, management and Flemming has delivered on time and here we are, the album is mixed and ready for George Marino mastering on tuesday in New York...

And of course it's Marino that's going to master our album. If you don't know the name well then let me introduce him... George is, within the recording industry, a true legend...
Go to: http://sterlingsound.com/main.php select "engineers" upper right corner "George Marino" George has mastered almost every amazing rock act in

The Sherlock Holmes-ish reader of this blog might have noticed that i stopped blogging on a daily basis...that's not because i don't wanna' update you guys, it's just because mixing an album is well, pretty boring reading material ;)

We mix 1 song a day...and since my last update we've mixed "Dead Inside", Slipping Away" and "Hopefully" all in all we're apx. half way through mixing the album and yes, we are extremely pleased with the result :)

Today we putting the final touches on "The Big Mistake" and maybe even "What You're Doing To Me"

In 10 days from now i'll be boarding a plane to New York where George Marino (AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N' Roses etc. etc.) will master our album AND THEN IT'S DONE!!! (after that comes the artsy-fartsy stuff....cover artwork etc...)

We're almost there...i can smell it!!

"Fire in your Eyes" turned out better than i hoped, we really nailed that thick punchy drum sound and overall very dynamic band feel/sound, and on top Ditlev with a top notch performance...it doesn't get much better than that folks!

Today we're mixing "Cocaine Cowboy", a live favourite of ours...I showed up a little late today so all the instruments where on the board and sounding great.

half past 7 in the evening and Cocaine is done...we've corrected a few minor things in Fire so all in all a good day...

    Back tomorrow...

I've been dreaming about this day for some time now...First day of mixing the album with Flemming, this is where we shape the sound and get it right!

Started off with getting my speakers (can't work on anything else) at my studio and then off to Flemming's Mix Suite in downtown Copenhagen.

The first song we're mixing is "Fire In Your Eyes"...

    2:23 pm

Flemming is tweeking the electric guitars right now...OH MY FREAKIN GOD YES !!!

    5:55 pm

First song is pretty much done, every instrument sounds great and the overall balance of "Fire in your eyes" is now thick and punchy....the devil is in the detail so now we're taking a short break and then a final listening...it's going to be a serious rock album!!!

Day 41 WOW did we spend that many days!! Oh well we could have done it in a week but that's how it goes when you record at your own studio (note to my self, charge the fuckers next time...hehe)

LAST DAY of recording, tomorrow we begin mixing the album at Sweet Silence Mix Suite with Flemming but before i allow my self to get all happy we still have a few items on my "to do" list...

My time schedule for today reads:

11 am: Ditlev - vocal recording for "What you're doing..."
3 pm: My self - record the last 2 guitar solo's
6 pm Tex - record percussion
8 pm - Berger - dub records for "Not Your Enemy"
10 pm - My good friend Kevin will play some keys on 1 song

Right now it's 10 to 5pm and Bjørn and i are having a pizza and a smile, it's going to be a busy evening/night

time for an update..it's now 11:02 pm and my mate Kevin is doing the keys for the new song LOVE KEYS (note: keys IS rock n' roll !!)

Oh a funny note from earlier on today... When Tex was recording percussion i was so bored just listening to his tambourine that i started to throw things at him just to see if he could hold his concentration... pretty funny watching him all focused with paper flying around his head, hitting the tambourine and him ( of course ) aaahhh life is quite ok :)

last update for today It's now 2:51 am and we're finally done with the keys. We had some serious sound issues that had to be solved...

It's Friday, Easter, and we're in the studio while everybody else is having a day off, oh well, that's rock n' roll for ya :)

Today we worked on a huge band favorite "Slipping Away"...I won't tell much
(basically 'cause I'm tired) but it's definitely the most "heavy" track on the album...and we like it...a lot !

Tomorrow the 3 of us (Ditlev, Henrik and my self) are going to Fyn/Odense to play 2 mini unplugged set's It's going to be fun i'm sure (it always is with SR on the road) but we have to get up pretty damn early and that's NOT a band favorite...

Then tomorrow when we get home to Copenhagen, Ditlev and my selv will DJ (yeah you heard me, DJ) at Target Label Night at Vesterbro Rådhus...go figure!!
But we'll play some of our own favourite classics etc. so come by for a cold one if you are in the area...

Sunday Ditlev and i will be back in the studio to record the last song for the album..."What you're doing to me"

    Enjoy

    Today we're re-recording Ditlev's vocal for "Hopefully" ...

    5:23 pm

"Hopefully" lead vocal is done and every bit as good as the old version if not better!?

    6:06 pm

I'm recording my lead guitar parts for "Dead Inside" almost there...

    8:23

I've been a little work-o-maniac today, did the "Dead Inside" solo and then "Slipping Away" and now i'm working on "The Big Mistake" solo, buuut i wont nail that one today, my mind is just empty. I'll be back tomorrow.
